Brief description<\/strong><\/td>This project consists of the creation of a heat network that takes advantage of the geothermal resource of the mine water from the Barredo Well, in the Asturian municipality of Mieres. Initially, the geothermal projects linked to the Barredo Well (Mieres) were undertaken, including the Vital \u00c1lvarez Buylla Hospital, the Research Building of the University of Oviedo in the Barredo Campus and the Asturian Energy Foundation (FAEN), with a total installed power of more than 4 MWt. Subsequently, an additional 2 MWt were added through the DH Pozo Barredo (first geothermal District Heating in Spain), to supply: Polytechnic School, IES Bernaldo de Quir\u00f3s and buildings M9 and M10 in Vasco Mayacina. <\/td><\/tr>
Main characteristics<\/strong><\/td>The geothermal exploitation of the Barredo Well reaches a power of more than 6.8 MWt, in heat, and 3.72 MWt in cold, making it the largest geothermal development in Spain. Phase II has been awarded aid co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), aimed at companies, to promote the transition to a low carbon economy in all sectors, through the Ministry of Industry, Employment and Economic Promotion. <\/td><\/tr>
