OTJA is an initiative created to address the energy transition from a socially just and sustainable perspective in Asturias.
The OTJA seeks to be a space for dialogue and collaboration to advance in this direction, promoting a fair and equitable transition that benefits all Asturian society.
The OTJA pursues various objectives, among which its role as a tool for disseminating, monitoring, and overseeing the progress of the main strategies being implemented in Asturias to address the Just Transition process stands out.

Strategies
The Just Transition process is carried out through the nationwide Just Transition Strategy. This strategy aims to promote, through the design of public policies, opportunities for economic activity and job creation arising from the ecological transition toward a green, low-carbon economy. At the same time, it seeks to minimize the potential negative economic and social impacts associated with this process.
In Asturias, four other strategies contribute to the development of the Just Transition Strategy.
Just Transition Agreements
Just Transition Agreements (JTAs) are one of the tools for implementing the Just Transition Strategy in areas affected by the closure of coal mines, thermal power plants, and nuclear power plants. They are designed as co-governance tools to ensure the commitment and coordination of public administrations and to propose support mechanisms for the just transition process.
In Asturias, there are currently 3 Just Transition Agreements (JTA), covering 27 municipalities.
