Just Transition

What is

The Just Transition Strategy (JTS) is a strategy of solidarity-based accompaniment to ensure that people and territories take full advantage of the opportunities of the ecological transition without leaving anyone behind, allowing the identification and adoption of measures that guarantee workers and territories affected by the transition to a low-carbon economy, an equitable and solidarity-based treatment. The fundamental objective is to avoid negative impacts on employment and depopulation.

The ETJ is part of the Strategic Energy and Climate Framework and is structured around three pillars:

  • The Just Transition Strategy
  • Climate Change and Energy Transition Law, which defines the objectives for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the penetration of renewable energies and energy efficiency.
  • Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC), which lays the groundwork for decarbonization during the 2021-2030 period, consistent with the goal of achieving emissions neutrality by 2050.
